The Microstructure and Tensile Properties of New High-Manganese Low-Activation Austenitic Steel

Using X-ray diffraction, scanning and transmission electron microscopy, the microstructure of a new low-activation chromium-manganese austenitic steel with high content manganese strong carbide-forming elements is studied. Its structure, dislocation character particle composition are detailed. The processes taking place in under cold-rolling deformation described. It shown that mechanical properties high-manganese revealed by testing at 20 650 °C comparable those well-known analogs or exceed them. Relying on structural studies, this attributed to dispersion substructural strengthening. Better plastic associated twinning-induced plasticity effect. fracture after tension test temperatures mainly ductile dimple transcrystalline intercrystalline (at °C), while signs latter disappear. steels characterized increased austenite stability thought be promising materials for nuclear power engineering.
